Dehydrated skin can often look and feel like dry skin but there is a huge difference between the two. Dry skin is typically when your skin has a lack of sebum, oil or lipids. Dehydrated skin is your skin is lacking water and moisture. Dehydrated skin can be a major cause for all skin types such as dry, combination or oily skin. If you feel you have dry skin underneath an oily layer, it is likely due to dehydrated skin. 

Dehydrated skin can also be caused by using harsh, skin-sensitising products (clay masks, scrubs, AHA/BHA exfoliants, retinol, vitamin c) that disturb your natural skin's microbiome, or can cause imbalances to your skin causing dehydration.
